Edge Natural: Follicle Enhancer, How it's working?

 Edge Natural: Follicle Enhancer

How it's working?

Since I've been using the Follicle Enhancer on my hairline edges, it has been growing out my edges nicely.  This has become part of my new hair care daily routine.  I now have more fuller edges than before. I like it because it has lots of oils but it's not greasy on my scalp.  The peppermint scent is so energizing. You just apply with your finger tip and just leave it on your scalp and you'll feel the tingling minty feeling right away!

Product Review: Edge Naturale Follicle Enchancer

 Product Review:

Edge Naturale - Natural Follicle Enhancer

Growing up as I got older in life,  I always had problems with growing the back edge of my hair.  I've used different products to try to help it grow but many of the products didn't work.  I also wanted something more natural based, so I was happy when Edge Naturale reached out to me to do a review on their Follicle Enhancer for Natural Edges.
Edge Naturale Follicle Enhancers come in a white cream based with a great peppermint smell made with fresh ingredients. When you put it on, you feel a cooling tingle sensation on your scalp from the Peppermint oil. The product has lots of other oils like Argon oil, Jojoba oil, coconut milk, Castor oil, and more.  I apply it every night on dry hair with my fingertips.  I've only been using it for a month and I did see improvement in my hair. The product has shown new growth and it did make my back edges look more fuller.  I've enclosed pictures below of my results for 1 month using Edge Naturale Follicle Enhancer.  If your interested in trying or purchasing this product,  you can purchase the product at:  https://edgenaturale.com

Japanese Hair Straightening-Would you try it?

Japanese Hair Straightening – Would you try it?

Japanese Hair Straightening, also known as Thermal Reconditioning, is one very popular hair straightening technique. It looks very good but you just might want to think twice about before having done.

This product came from Japan in the late 90’s the chemical products used in the process go by the names: Liscio, Yuko and U.S. made Bio Ionics.

The treatment can take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours and involves numerous steps with costs ranging from $300 to $1,500 depending on the salon.

A cheaper price should raise some red flags as to the quality of the chemicals used or the expertise of the stylist according to the experts.

The result is permanently straight hair but after 4 to 6 months any new hair growth will need to be treated as well. This usually costs close to the same amount as the original treatment because it is a more time-consuming process involving straightening hair closer to the roots.

Because of the chemicals and techniques used you will not be able to curl the treated hair so you definitely want to take that into consideration beforehand.

There is also a growing concern from some stylists that thermal reconditioning may not be the perfect hair straightening solution after all.

The experts estimate that at least 80 percent of people that are having the treatment are not really good reconditioning candidates for several reasons:

Any recent chemical processes done to your hair such as hair coloring, bleaching or hair relaxing can cause serious problems including hair loss and breakage if you elect to have the treatment done. A hair strand test must be done first to determine whether your hair can accept the chemicals. If the salon does not offer a strand test you might want to reconsider who you trust your hair to.

It does not work on African hair because it is too fragile and can’t take the heat required during the straightening process. It is not the same as a hair relaxer which is made especially for African hair.

In fact, a growing number of women are claiming serious hair breakage problems and it has been reported in the press that one of the top Hollywood celebrity hair stylists refuses to perform the treatment because she thinks it is too much of a risk to her client’s hair.

Many women are led to believe that the process is actually good for your hair but there have been no clinical studies to prove this and by definition anything that physically alters the hair structure at the molecular level is damaging.

Even though many women have had the Japanese Hair Straightening process done to their hair with great success you should know that there can be some risk involved and if you decide to have it done to your hair be sure you use a reputable salon with properly trained stylists that will test your hair first.

Tips for Scalp Eczema

Tips for Scalp Eczema

Scalp Eczema

I suffered from Eczema all my life. I often asked what is the best remedy for dry scaly scalp - or another question is what are scaly bumps on scalp?  If you too ask this question, you are likely suffering from Eczema of the scalp.Eczema is an itchy, prickly irritation of the skin that can be extremely annoying to those who are unfortunate enough to be affected with this problem. People can be affected with eczema all over the entire body, but one of the most common types of eczema is that which affects the scalp.

 Scalp Eczema: The beginning

When you have eczema of the scalp, the oil glands contained in the skin of your scalp are involved. These oil glands are connected to the follicles of the hair, and their job is to produce enough oil to keep the skin of the scalp smooth and supple as well as to keep the hair from being dry and rough to the touch. This involvement of the oil glands is why scalp eczema also goes by the name of either Seborrheic dermatitis, or Seborrheic eczema. This type of eczema affects the parts of the body that produce more skin oil than other areas are known to, such as the scalp, eyebrows, and sides of the nose.  You may have first noticed scaly scalp or bumps.  Many times, scalp eczema starts at puberty, when the oil glands in the scalp began to produce more oil than usual because of the influx of hormones that have begun to flood the body. But, this disorder can appear on a person of any age. It seems to be a bit more common in men than in women, although females certainly suffer from it as well. Scalp eczema is known to be a chronic condition in that it can flare up seemingly for no reason at all, and then retreat, not to be seen again for months or years. Or, it can be an ongoing condition where the time without any symptoms is quite rare.

What Causes Scalp Eczema?
No one is exactly sure what the cause of scalp eczema is, but there are several theories as to why it occurs, such as – Hormones, no matter what your age group A skin fungusToxins in the body which seem to overwhelm the immune system Stress, which in turn can further aggravate the condition.

Symptoms of Scalp Eczema:
Scalp eczema can start out with very mild symptoms. In fact, many people are totally unaware that they have this skin condition until it has gotten out of hand. The first telltale sign is a slight case of dandruff which can quickly escalate to an unusually oily scalp with extremely itchy, red and irritated skin. Scaly patches of skin with a yellowish crust from the excess oil are also quite common.  Itching of the scalp of course causes scratching, which eventually breaks the skin and can create open sores.

Treatment of Scalp Eczema:
There are a number of topical creams and ointments on the market which are manufactured to treat scalp eczema and help the itching, excess oiliness and flaky skin. Medicated shampoos are also helpful, and may be used on a regular basis to help control symptoms. Many times, doctors will prescribe hydrocortisone (also known as steroids) to treat scalp eczema, but studies have shown that this only masks the symptoms. The steroid treatment does nothing to get to the actual cause of the disorder, but merely helps to relieve the itching, which can allow the skin to begin to heal.
Scalp on the scalp eczema has the maddening habit of recurring once you think you have it conquered and cease treatment. But beginning a treatment routine at the first sign of a flare up is the only way to keep a bout with scalp eczema from getting out of hand.  I am often asked what is the best remedy for dry scaly scalp?

You can use a variety of natural treatment including slight diet adjustments for a while and also by using natural oils such as Hemp or Neem and lavender to soothe and heal. You can also do a lot to help your scalp by using products that are gentle on your skin instead of harsh cleansing ingredients found in most shampoos.  To find a good shampoo for scalp eczema look for one that doesn’t contain sulphates (a harsh foaming agent called a surfactant) and instead contains natural surfactants like yucca or coconut.  Scalp eczema and other scaly scalp conditions can be eliminated by understanding what to avoid and what you can use at home to nourish and heal your scalp.

Crotchet Faux Dread Locs on Natural Hair

Crotchet Faux Dread Locs on Natural Hair

This blog is about my experience with my Crotchet Faux Loc.  I got my hair done by Janelle R.  I always wanted to try locs on my hair but never wanted to take the plunge to grow them in my hair.  I like the versatility of being able to switch my hairstyles. So, I decided to try Faux Locs for a few weeks.  The hair I used was from Freetress, The hair was 12 in length and in color 1B.  The hair is very light weight and feels soft.  The style should last from 6 to 8 weeks, but for me 1 month is good enough.  It took about 1 hour to braid my natural hair down and crotchet the hair in. I had my hair crotchet hair before and it is very easy to remove.  To remove, all you do is un-ravel the cornrows and the hair will completely come off.  It much faster than than taking out individual braid. Its also easy to moisturize, just put a little oil through the sections of the cornrolls. Check out my video review on my Faux Crotchet Locs:

Blend Natural Hair with Afro Brazilian Curly Clip-Ins

Afro Brazilian Curly Clip-Ins blended with my Natural Hair

I was trying to find a way to make my Natural Hair appear longer in length.  I didn't want to do any weaves or any glued extensions. So, I was shopping on Amazon and I found these Hair Clips- In on Amazon.com.  It is the Afro Brazilian Curly Clip Ins.  It is 14 inches of long Brazilian Curly Hair Clip ins. The hair color is 1B.  The cost was $29.99 a bundle, they had a sale that day..  These hair clips also comes in different hair lengths and different hair textures. However, I did notice you do need about 2 or 3 bundle of hair to get fuller length results.  These clips also are very easy to put on  and take off, there is no professional experience needed.

I loved my hair results, these hair clips blended in well with my natural hair. I did have the best results when I did a twist-out with the clips on.  Please check out my photo results below and my video review on these Hair Clips at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCBSTG35hOI

Natural Hair Product Review:

Honey's Handmade  Pumpkin & Cupuacu Puree Twist

This is a review on the Honey's Handmade: Pumpkin & Cupuacu Puree Twist.  This product is an all natural styling butter for your hair.  Its good for Twist-outs, Braid-outs, LOC methods and more.  It can also be used as daily hair moisturizer.

The ingredients include: Distilled Water, Cupuacu Butter, Pumpkin Butter, Organic Beeswax, Shea Butter, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Raw Honey, Black Castor oil, Sweet Almond and Fragrance.   This product has a great Pumpkin Pie scent, if you like the smell of Pumpkin Pie.  The Cupuacu ingredient is really good for your hair, it also contains lot of high fatty acids.

The Pumpkin & Cupuacu Puree cream really provides great hold on my twist, braid-outs and twist-outs. My twist-outs last for about 4 days with this product.  The product makes my hair so soft. The Cupuacu butter has an all Natural stretching agent in it.  The butter can make the hair appear longer in length after applied to the hair. The product cost is $17 and it will last a long time. I've been using it for 4 months; I use it every week and still got more than half left.  If your interested in this product, you can purchase this product at: http://www.honeyshandmade.com. This company also carries other great handmade natural products that are great. Review: Orofluido Mask

Orofluido Mask: Review

This is a review on the Orofluido Conditioning mask for Natural or Colored hair. This is one of my favorite conditioners.  I was recommended to use this product by my current Natural Hair Stylish. This mask was voted one of  Elle 2015 Beauty Grand Prix.

The directions are to wash your hair with shampoo, leave the mask on for 3 to 5 minutes and rinse. The product is mixed with 3 oils: Argan, Cyperus and Linseed oil.  This product also has no Parabens. The product smell very good. It has a slight vanilla with a little Amber scent. The cream texture is like a smooth lotion. The product also contains Thermal Protection, which will help protect/guard your hair against heat damage.

I love the way my hair feels after it's washed from this product.  It makes my hair so soft and the de-tangling process is so easy.  Orofluido Mask also provides remarkable shine to my hair.  Please check out my video review on the product below:

Natural Hair Conditioners: 4 Easy to Make

Natural Hair Conditioners: 4 Easy to Make

Making your own conditioner is the way to go!  It is often more natural and healthier for the hair and body.  It also can save you money if you already have this stuff at home in your pantry.

Here is a list of some Home-Made conditioners you can make, with things you might have right in your kitchen:

(1) Rich Protein Conditioner-
This conditioner would shine, detangle damage hair, and strengthens the hair:
  • 5 tbsp of plain yogurt
  • 1 egg white
First, beat the egg white until foamy and then gently add in the plain yogurt. Apply to hair and leave for 15 minutes.  Then rinse and follow with a deep conditioner.

(2) Avocado Coconut Conditioner-
This conditioner will hydrate and give your hair protein.

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 cup of Coconut Milk
First peel the Avocado, then mash the avocado in the coconut milk.  Mash it until you get a smooth paste. Comb the product through your hair for about 15 minutes. Make sure you massage it all way through the hair, to the hair ends.  For a deeper conditioner, you can sit under an overhead dryer or steamer and then rinse. Warning: Don't use this mix, if you are epileptic, pregnant or have high blood pressure.

(3) Olive Oil/Honey Conditioner-
This conditioner provides shine and will make your hair moisturized.  This mix might be sticky when applying it, but its worth the try.

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup of honey
Mix the olive oil and honey together.  Put in sections of the hair. Cover with a shower cap and leave on for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse well.

(4)Mayonnaise Conditioner-
This conditioner treatment is good for dry hair.

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
Mix everything together.  Apply to hair before shampoo.  Work it through the hair.  Cover with a plastic cap and leave on hair for 15 minutes. Then rinse and shampoo.

FlaxSeed Gel

FlaxSeed Gel is an all natural gel made from FlaxSeeds. FlaxSeeds are very good because its high in Omega 3 Fatty Acid, which make it great for your hair.  It also gives your hair great definition and hold.  FlaxSeed Gel defines the curls and is great for doing puffs, twist, twist-outs and braid out.   Here is my results from using FlaxSeed Gel on my hair:

FlaxSeed Gel Recipe:

2 cups of Water
4 tablespoons of Flaxseeds
Add a few drops of Caster oil (optional)
Add a few drops of Olive oil (optional)
Add a few drops of Vitamin E oil (optional)
Add a few drops of Rosemary oil for preservatives (optional)

Instructions:

1. Boil 2 cups of water
2. Add 4 tablespoons of Flaxseed, stir continuously for about 5 minutes, until it became a clear liquid paste, don't let it get too thick, it makes it harder to strain.
3.Strain it in a bowl with a metal strainer or a old nylon stocking
4. Add your optional oils
5. Put in the refrigerator in a shut container. The Gel can last up to 3 weeks.

You can do 2 batches with those seeds to get a full container of gel. Then save the seeds later on in an air closed container in the refrigerator for another use.

New Natural Relaxer- Morrocco Method: Tame The Dragon Relaxer 24/7

I used the Morrocco Method Tame The Dragon Relaxer 24/7.  This is a New Natural Relaxer with Natural Ingredient, so you won't have to worry about getting any burns on your scalp.  I used this product to help loosen my curl pattern, so I can have better wash and goes with less shrinkage.  I washed my hair the night before and put my hair in medium size braids.  The instructions said, you have to apply product to clean hair.  Then in the afternoon, I applied it to my hair. When I applied it, its says you can leave it on your hair from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on your hair type and how loose you want your hair.  So, I left it on for 2 hours, since I got fairly thick hair.

My Results:

I love I love how my hair came out.  It really elongated my curls and made them looser.  It gave my wash and go; more hang time. It made my hair feel might lighter and much softer.  You can repeat 2 to 3 times more to get more straighter looks.  This product, gives you look, without trashing your hair with chemicals.  Right now, they are running a special on their website: www.MorroccoMethod.com. Also,  Check out my video, to see how my hair was before and how it came out after. Please Click Here for the video.
